Usually based in a local Arts Centre, School or other site, these projects draw on a large cross section of participants from the host community. Over a period of weeks the Community Residencies result in an end product that draws on local distinctivity and history as well as the abilities and interest of local people to put together a large scale celebratory performance.

Over the years Actiontrack has produced pieces in this way to produce for example, ‘The Day With Two Nights’, a celebration of the eclipse of 1999 (alongside Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and Somerset Film and Video); ‘The Ballad of Snack and Nancy’, to announce the arrival of sculptured stone on Ham Hill, Somerset; and ‘Dig Deep’ a multi-media event based on the unique fossils of the Mendips! In addition to this there have been Community Plays and Village residencies across the country that have drawn on legends, stories, songs and action put together in dance, large scale puppetry, theatrical spectacle and fireshows.
